Supporting Recovery of Depleted Species
Puget Sound killer whales are listed as endangered and chinook salmon, Hood Canal summer chum salmon runs and several other marine fishes are listed as threatened under federal law. As government agencies and local jurisdictions develop recovery programs, objective science-based information is needed at all levels of recovery planning.
Educational and outreach programs are also needed to complement species recovery and watershed restoration efforts. Washington Sea Grant research, outreach and education activities are designed to support all aspects of depleted species recovery.
