Supporting Sustainable Shellfish Aquaculture
Washington is the top producer of farmed clams, oysters and mussels in the U.S., and many consider its shellfish production to be the most technologically advanced in the world.
To help address increasing environmental and health issues, Washington Sea Grant hosts an annual shellfish growers conference, serves on the board of the Pacific Rim Shellfish Sanitation Association and works with small- and large-scale shellfish farming industries on an array of topics, including water quality protection, shellfish disease, seafood processing and exotic plant and animal control.
