Supporting K-12 and Informal Marine Education

Washington Sea Grant supports efforts to strengthen the nation's awareness of the importance of the oceans through formal and informal education. It accomplishes these goals by assisting with Beachwatcher Intertidal Education programs in Island and Whatcom counties, compiling and distributing marine resources curricula and participating in Kids Day at OysterFest, Kitsap Water Fest and other large-scale enrichment events for young people.

Through these and other means, WSG heeds the call in the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy report for “informal education aimed at the entire population…to foster lifelong learning.”
