Focus Areas

Pete has extensive background in the commercial seafood industry, having fished commercially in Puget Sound and Alaska and processed and marketed seafood products for several companies.  He was a sales manager for the Seafood Producers Cooperative from 1989 to 1993.  He has also headed three different fisheries and fish-farming trade associations and holds a BS in Oceanography and an MBA in International Business from the University of Washington. 

Current Activities

  1. Administer WSG’s Marine Advisory Services program
  2. Participate in aquaculture issues through board membership on the Pacific Aquaculture Caucus, Pacific Shellfish Institute and Washington Fish Growers Association
  3. Deliver USDA-funded Intensive Technical Assistance program to Northwest salmon fishermen
  4. Co-sponsor Wild Seafood Exchange event
  5. Coordinate retail seafood training program with South Seattle Community College Meatcutters Apprenticeship program.
  6. Provide seafood marketing and fish business training to Lummi tribal nation in NW Washington.
