Pete has extensive background in the commercial seafood industry, having fished commercially in Puget Sound and Alaska and processed and marketed seafood products for several companies. He was a sales manager for the Seafood Producers Cooperative from 1989 to 1993. He has also headed three different fisheries and fish-farming trade associations and holds a BS in Oceanography and an MBA in International Business from the University of Washington.
Current Activities
- Administer WSG’s Marine Advisory Services program
- Participate in aquaculture issues through board membership on the Pacific Aquaculture Caucus, Pacific Shellfish Institute and Washington Fish Growers Association
- Deliver USDA-funded Intensive Technical Assistance program to Northwest salmon fishermen
- Co-sponsor Wild Seafood Exchange event
- Coordinate retail seafood training program with South Seattle Community College Meatcutters Apprenticeship program.
- Provide seafood marketing and fish business training to Lummi tribal nation in NW Washington.
